Meeting Details
Welcome
- Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by Anana PTO President
- Icebreaker Activity: Puzzle Piece (each participant decorated and explained their puzzle piece). Pieces were assembled and displayed on the Anana PTO FB page.
Principal’s Update
Principal Elliot introduced the Anana Attributes, after a discussion of the Core Leadership Team meeting with Anana PTO president in August.
The Crew model was explained, the seven attributes (respect, responsibility, advocacy, initiative, citizenship, perseverance, integrity) as well as how a couple of teachers (present in the meeting) use the daily morning and afternoon Crew model in their classrooms.
Questions:
Ross asked: Is Crew an acronym? What does it stand for?
- Crew comes from the idea that we are all in the same learning boat. At Anana- our Crew will foster a strong sense of purpose and belonging, celebrate our different identities, and instill Anana Attributes.
Kristen C asked: How is Crew different from the new district social emotional program ‘sown to grown’?
- It is not to replace the existing program but to enhance.
President’s Report
Mission of Anana PTO
The mission of the Anana Elementary School PTO is to work together to support students, families, teachers and staff educationally, socially, and culturally within an equitable community of learning by:
Fostering connections between families and teachers and staff within the Anana school community.
Providing programs, enrichment experiences, and services that strengthen and support the Anana school community.
Supporting antiracist policies.
Erin asked members ‘what stood out on the slide’
- Foster connections, anti-racists policies
The idea of a shared agreement was discussed. Members mentioned:
- Assume positive intent – seek to understand
- Be accountable for an impact (take responsibility for your actions)
- Propose radical candor
- Give what you can and respect everyone’s limits
- Come as you are
Melissa B asked if the shared agreement slide could be presented at the next meeting for further additions.
Treasurer’s Report
Upcoming Events
Anana Dash Pledge Packet stuffing (moved to September 15 5:30pm)
Ice Cream Social Friday, September 18
- Using our leftover ice cream from Back to School Night, we will serve ice cream outside during recess on 9/18 for all grades.
- If you would like to help, please sign up!
Anana Dash – October 9 (rain date October 22)
- This is our largest fundraiser and the funds raised go to support our programs and teacher/staff grants.
- Please sign up to volunteer for the Anana Dash!
Election Bake Sale – November 3
Announcements/Questions
The Treasurer position will be vacant (Thank you Angela for your service). Nominations are open until Friday, September 18. Please email ananapto@gmail.com if you are interested or would like to nominate someone. We would like to hold an election before the next meeting and announce the new Treasurer at the October meeting.
Dine nights begin September 22 at Chipotle. Must have the flier or code from Facebook or email present when you order.
We earned money over the summer from Box Tops, so refer to the slides on how to upload your purchases and earn Anana PTO funds!
